P4 January Activities 2 Online Maths Games for weeks 3 & 4
Here are the online maths sites for weeks 3 and 4 in January. Use the website https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/5-7-years/money to find these games or click directly on the links below. You should choose 1 game to play every day and practise until you are getting all the answers right.
1) Toy Shop Money Game https://www.topmarks.co.uk/money/toy-shop-money
Toy Shop Money is a game for helping children understand UK money. There are two game modes; the first where children use coins to make up varying amounts to buy the toys and the second where they work out change. This money game is suitable for children from 4 to 11 years of age as it has varying levels of difficulty. The easiest levels involve working out amounts with coins of the same denomination and the activities progress from counting out amounts with mixed coins to working out change from up to a £10 note. Circles should concentrate on working with money to 50p, Triangles can work with money up to £1 and Squares should set themselves a challenge working with money to £2.
2) Custom Car Garage https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/customCars/index.html
This tablet friendly money game encourages pupils to:
count in multiples of twos, fives and ten.
find different combinations of coins that equal the same amounts of money.
solve simple problems in a practical context involving addition [and subtraction] of money.
To play, you can customise your sports car by choosing from a menu and then using the correct coins to pay for each item. You should always play this game in STERLING. Colour resprays are free. Begin at level 1 and play through to level 5.
3) Money Cruncher https://natwest.mymoneysense.com/students/students-5-8/coin-cruncher/
There are two games here. In the first game, 'Make the Total', you have to drag the correct coins to make the total amount of money shown. In the second game, 'Make the Total' you have to add up the coins shown and click on the correct amount. Use pounds sterling only in this game.
4) The Change Game https://natwest.mymoneysense.com/students/students-5-8/the-change-game/
It’s important to check you’ve been given the right change when you go shopping – this game makes it fun! Spot the right amount as it pops up behind different doors, then click on it before it disappears again. You can play at 2 levels - easy and hard. Try them both. As the game goes on you need to be quick or the answer might disappear before you click on it.
5) Fractions Introduction https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/fractions-intro/latest/fractions-intro_en.html
An interactive learning resource where you can explore fractions and equivalent fractions. It is useful for demonstrating and playing with fractions. The accompanying fractions game has various levels of difficulty. We should only choose to play at level 1.
